Job Overview:

 

Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC is seeking a Physical Risk Manager to join our team on a 6–12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to transition into a full-time permanent role based on performance and business needs. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in physical security systems and operations, demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, and possess strong problem-solving capabilities. This individual should thrive under pressure and excel at building collaborative relationships across a wide range of business functions. The Physical Risk Manager will perform various functions, including supporting, maintaining, and improving our physical security programs. They will serve as a primary custodian of our physical security capabilities with significant opportunities to develop baseline knowledge in business continuity and operational resilience.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Must live within short commute of our Jersey City, NJ headquarters with the ability to respond to emergencies during off-hours.
  • Operational control and maintenance of physical security programs including Site Security, Life Safety, and Travel Safety across our global footprint.
  • Operate, maintain, and expand our CCTV and Access Control systems. A plus if you have experience using Genetec’s Security Desk security system.
    • Responsible for expanding our physical security systems to our global offices through coordination with our security integrator, sub-contractors, and office landlords.
  • Leverage information from Threat Intelligence providers to identify, analyze, and report relevant local, industry, and global events to the organization, driving proactive adjustments to security posture as needed.
    • Assist in refining our threat intelligence program with new sources, AI integration, distribution, and actioning.
  • Support firm-wide incident responses to major events including natural disasters, hostile events, travel incidents, and business continuity activations.
  • Monthly testing of our holistic security system including badge readers, cameras, intercoms, and emergency call buttons. On-request reporting for security incidents including ID badge metrics and video recordings.
  • Conduct testing of our emergency notification system on a regular basis, document results in after-action reviews, and implement improvements.
  • Support internal responses to Life Safety Incidents, medical emergencies, and building evacuations.
  • Coordinate with the Community Relations Team to support Life Safety training including CPR/AED, First Aid, and other safety related courses.
  • Coordinate with our Facilities Team to inventory and maintain Life Safety resources like First Aid Kits, AEDs, and Fire Extinguishers.
  • Maintain Life Safety Certification and Fire Warden rosters and coordinate procedure reviews with all certified personnel.
  • Primary relationship owner for outsourced providers of security services including our physical security integrator, technology vendors, and trainers.
  • Work with our Workplace Experience Team to adjust Physical Security controls and Access Control System during onboarding and separation of employees.
  • Support onsite special events, client meetings, and building events with our Workplace Experience and Special Events teams.
  • Support client and regulator due diligence inquiries related to Physical Security controls.
  • Provide direct support to the Operational Resilience and Physical Risk Officer in maintaining the Firm’s business continuity capabilities including business impact analyses, business continuity exercises, and emergency notification system.

You'll need to have:

Prospective candidates should possess certain qualities, abilities, experience, and knowledge to prove that you will be able to succeed in achieving the obligations, purpose, and objectives of the role. Such as:

  • Veterans: Experienced Non-Commissioned Officers or Officers are highly encouraged to apply. Experience in security systems, operations, and emergency response are beneficial.
  • Education: Employer seeks individuals with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, but a high school diploma / GED with extensive Physical Security or Law Enforcement experience is also accepted
  • Experience: Strong knowledge of physical risk and security domains including site security and life safety. Five years or more working in a similar role is preferred.
  • Certification: It is preferred that the applicant have one or more certifications in physical security domains such as APP, CPP, PSP or equivalent.
  • Communication skills: In executing their duties, this role must communicate with various audiences, including business leaders, clients, team members, and engineers. It is important that they have great verbal communication skills to convey information to the relevant audience. They also require exceptional written communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Teamwork abilities: The candidate is expected to work with various multi-disciplinary teams, so it is vital that they are team-oriented individuals with priority on the successful completion of group goals.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills: It is also essential that applicants have the necessary skills to constantly monitor the process to identify emerging gaps or issues and proactively execute changes.

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $95,000 - $115,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
