Founded in 1929, Lord Abbett is an independent firm with a singular focus on the management of money. We’re looking for people with a keen interest in working for a trusted leader in the asset management industry, a desire to expand their knowledge, and a passion for delivering a client experience that exceeds expectations.

Now that you know our history, are you ready to be part of our future?

Job Overview:

As a Senior Relationship Manager on the Strategic Relationships team, you will play a critical role in advancing Lord Abbett’s enterprise strategy across the custodial, turnkey asset management platform (TAMP), and alternative investment ecosystems. This highly strategic role focuses on deep engagement with Charles Schwab, Fidelity, BNY Mellon, SEI, Envestnet, Orion, CAIS, iCapital, and other key platforms that shape advisor access, influence flows, and drive firmwide growth.

Reporting directly to the Partner, Head of Strategic Relationships, you will develop and execute platform-level strategies, strengthen senior relationships, and translate platform architecture and advisor behavior into actionable commercial opportunities. This role requires a deep understanding of the independent advisory landscape, strong strategic acumen, and the ability to coordinate with internal partners across the firm to drive measurable outcomes.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Build and deepen senior-level relationships across research, product, platform management, relationship management, and executive teams at custodians, TAMPs, and alternative investment platforms.
  • Develop and execute engagement strategies that expand platform positioning, product access, and program inclusion for both traditional and alternative investment solutions.
  • Serve as the firm’s external advocate, articulating Lord Abbett’s differentiated capabilities with credibility and impact across these platforms and their downstream advisors.
  • Map and interpret the advisor and RIA ecosystems that utilize these platforms—identifying growth opportunities, segmentation strategies, and influence networks.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including Relationship Managers, Product Managers, Marketing, Sales and Investments, to ensure alignment on platform initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Navigate complex platform structures and decision-making processes to secure approvals, expand distribution reach, and influence strategic positioning.
  • Provide actionable intelligence to senior leadership on platform trends, competitive dynamics, and structural shifts shaping the independent wealth landscape.
  • Ensure coordinated execution across the Strategic Relationships team and broader distribution organization, serving as the central point of contact for all activities with these key accounts.
  • Represent Lord Abbett at senior-level meetings, conferences, and industry forums.

You'll need to have:

  • 10–15 years of experience in asset management, platform strategy, or strategic distribution roles with demonstrated success managing complex accounts.
  • Deep knowledge of custodians, TAMPs, and alternative investment platforms—how they operate, how decisions are made, and how advisors engage with them.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior executives and translate complexity into compelling narratives.
  • Strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to balance long-term relationship development and short-term opportunities.
  • Ability to build trust, influence without authority, and coordinate across functional teams.
  • Analytical skills to assess platform dynamics, segmentation, and growth potential.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced designation (CFA, CAIA, MBA) preferred.
