The Role

Lord Abbett is seeking a highly experienced and proactive MEP Engineer to oversee and manage all aspects of our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure across our five-floor corporate facility. This on-site role is critical to ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our building systems, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives. This role will report directly to the Head of Real Estate and Workplace Services.

We’ll trust you to:

MEP Infrastructure Oversight:

  • Ensure optimal functionality of all MEP systems across five floors.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of HVAC, CRAC/Leibert units, and other critical systems.
  • Provide regular maintenance reports and implement continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate with building engineers to manage air circulation, electrical closets, and water pressure.

Issue Assessment & Vendor Coordination:

  • Evaluate MEP issues to determine responsibility (Lord Abbett vs. landlord).
  • Engage and oversee vendors for repairs, including off-hours and weekend work.
  • Process all necessary building paperwork (PTWs, MOPs) and coordinate with building staff.

Facility Walkthroughs & Condition Assessments:

  • Schedule and lead weekly walkthroughs with building and internal facilities teams.

BMS System Management:

  • Oversee installation and operation of two BMS systems for critical systems and comfort control.
  • Monitor and adjust BMS settings daily to maintain optimal temperature and system performance.
  • Support overnight system surveillance and emergency response.

Project Planning & Budgeting:

  • Present detailed work plans and cost estimates for managerial approval.
  • Maintain and submit annual MEP budget for leadership review.

Space Planning & Modifications:

  • Collaborate with Workplace Services and Facilities teams on space modifications impacting MEP systems.

Amenity Support & Maintenance Coordination:

  • Coordinate maintenance and upgrades for equipment in pantries, cafes, kitchens, locker rooms, and restrooms.
  • Schedule and manage space shutdowns and ensure timely restoration to standards.

Cross-Functional Support:

  • Provide engineering support to Facilities, Workplace Experience, and Security teams as directed.

You'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience in MEP systems, facilities operations, or infrastructure management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering; PE license preferred.
  • Expertise in HVAC, CRAC/Leibert units, electrical, plumbing, and BAS/BMS systems.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale infrastructure projects and vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and safety standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, OSHA).
  • Proficient in BMS platforms and remote monitoring; data analytics experience a plus.
  • Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communicator with cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to support off-hours emergencies and system checks.

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $140,000 -$150,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
