Job Overview:

 

This role is a strategic position responsible for overseeing the procurement, negotiation, and management of all market data and research-related services and vendors for the firm, primarily in Investments. This role ensures that the firm has access to the best available data, research, and tools while balancing cost-effectiveness, quality, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in vendor management, procurement, market data management, and experience in the equity research vote processes within the investment industry.

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

Procurement & Vendor Negotiations:

· Lead the end-to-end procurement process for market data, research, and associated services including RFPs, contract negotiation, and vendor selection.

· Build and maintain relationships with market data providers, research firms, and other third-party tech & service vendors.

· Negotiate favorable contract terms with data and research vendors, ensuring alignment with business needs and budget constraints.

 

Vendor Management:

· Manage ongoing vendor relationships, ensuring optimal service levels, compliance, and performance monitoring.

· Monitor and evaluate vendor performance to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality market data and research services.

· Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that data and research products meet operational and investment team requirements.

· Resolve vendor-related issues, working with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to contractual terms and regulatory requirements.

 

Budget & Cost Management:

· Manage the market data and research budget, ensuring all expenditures are within allocated limits and that value is maximized.

· Monitor and track costs related to data and research services, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or access to critical information.

 

Equity Research Vote Process:

· Assist the equity research vote process, including the management, tracking, and reporting of research consumption across the firm.

· Collaborate with investment teams to ensure proper attribution and alignment of research resources with investment strategies.

· Facilitate the accurate and timely reporting of research votes and compliance with internal guidelines.

 

Compliance & Risk Management:

· Ensure that all market data and research procurement processes comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.

· Address any legal or compliance concerns related to data usage, intellectual property rights, and licensing agreements.

 

System Management – Optimize Spend (FITS/TRG Screen):

· Manage and oversee the firm’s usage of FITS/Spend platform for tracking and reporting market data and research costs.

· Ensure efficient integration of these tools into the firm’s operational workflows and systems.

· Leverage FITS/Spend data to provide insights and reporting on vendor performance, research consumption, and cost allocation.

You'll need to have:

· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

· Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in procurement, vendor management, or market data management, preferably within a buy-side investment firm, hedge fund, or asset management firm.

· Knowledge of market data platforms, research vendors, and data management tools within the financial services industry.

· Strong contract negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.

· Experience with Optimize Spend/FITS and TRG Screen platforms for market data and research management.

· Experience managing the equity research vote process and aligning research usage with investment strategies.

· Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, compliance, and investment teams to drive business objectives.

· Proven ability to analyze and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining data quality.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.

· Strong problem-solving skills and a results-driven approach.

· Proficiency in MS Office 365, and experience with data integration and management platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, etc)

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $90,000 - $100,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

 

Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
