Job Overview:

 

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable cloud solutions for the firm.  You will be responsible for architecting and engineering cloud infrastructure that ensures high availability, security, and optimal performance across multiple cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, security, and business stakeholders to align cloud architecture with business objectives.  You will also oversee the migration of existing systems to the cloud, establish best practices for cloud infrastructure management, and mentor junior cloud engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and other platforms.
  • Develop and implement cloud strategies, including cloud migration plans, cloud-native application design, and multi-cloud strategies.
  • Design and implement cloud-native solutions, leveraging advanced automation and orchestration (Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, etc.) for maximum efficiency.
  • Lead cloud security strategy and implementation, ensuring the highest levels of resilience and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management and Information Security teams to develop cloud governance frameworks and ensure adherence to policies.
  • Ensure cloud solutions are compliant with security standards and best practices, including identity management, encryption, and monitoring.
  • Drive cloud modernization efforts, including migration of legacy systems and optimization of multi-cloud environments.
  • Serve as a key advisor to leadership on cloud strategy, aligning technical direction with business objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud-related issues, owning end-to-end accountability for mission-critical systems.
  • Monitor cloud usage, optimize resource allocation, and reduce overall costs using cloud-native tools and services like AWS Cost Explorer or Azure Cost Management.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior cloud engineers and architects.
  • Stay on the bleeding edge of cloud technology trends, and recommend adoption of new tools and processes.

You'll need to have:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in cloud architecture and engineering roles.
  • Deep expertise in at least one cloud platform (AWS preferred, Azure, GCP) with a strong understanding of cloud-native services and tools.
  • Cloud certification is highly preferred, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and Redshift
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go4.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing data models, managing data life cycles, and ensuring data quality.
  • Strong knowledge of database solutions in the cloud, including both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration using AWS services.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automation tools.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles, best practices, and relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience with hybrid cloud environments and integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud services.

Preferred:

  • Experience in DevSecOps and zero-trust security models
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures, AI/ML workloads in the cloud, and cutting-edge cloud services.
  • Background in financial, or other highly regulated environments is a plus.
  • Strong background in network architecture and connectivity for cloud environments.

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $150,000-$185,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
