Job Overview:

 

Lord Abbett is looking for a quantitative analyst to work with a highly respected team of seasoned quants to apply, extend, and maintain our suite of proprietary tools for analyzing our investment strategies’ positioning in terms of risk factor exposures, sector/asset allocation, tracking error and expected return targets. This role will also be highly involved in crafting solutions for institutional clients and designing new products and strategies. The team’s coverage focuses on fixed income and alternatives, but also includes equities and multi-asset class strategies. The team also manages a derivatives book to hedge the firm’s seed capital investments and runs quantitative analysis of competitor funds and peer groups. This front-office role will interface directly with portfolio managers and leaders in client services, having a visible impact on how portfolios are invested. This role is a great opportunity for a talented programmer with an analytical bent to evolve and to impact the investment process.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Understand, maintain, improve, and build upon cutting-edge quantitative tools essential to the investment process.
  • Work with the quantitative research team, portfolio managers, and client services to develop bespoke customizations of our strategies based on client needs.
  • Implement proprietary analytics based on statistics, optimization, risk/return analysis, and the needs of our clients. Present your results to investments team stakeholders, client services, and directly to clients.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the group’s proprietary infrastructure, generating daily updates of our models and analytics.
  • Develop models and tools providing actionable recommendations which improve the risk-adjusted returns of our strategies.

You'll need to have:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, engineering, finance, economics, etc.).
  • 2-5 years of independent research or developer experience, preferable in a quantitative finance or risk management role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with scientific programming (e.g., python, Matlab, R) and version control (git) in a collaborative setting.
  • Intimate familiarity with programming design, testing, and debugging. A proponent of collaborate software engineering techniques and methods including code reviews, unit testing, refactoring, and related approaches. Knowledge of scientific data analysis methods (visualization, tidy data, joining data sets, fundamentals of SQL).
  • Experience working with financial data providers (Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, ICE, JPMorgan DataQuery) is a plus.
  • Passion for the financial markets and investment management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both spoken and written.

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $120,000 - $160,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
