Lord Abbett is currently seeking a portfolio analyst to join its Portfolio Analytics team within Investments. In this role, the analyst will examine Lord Abbett investment strategies across asset classes and will be primarily responsible for providing performance attribution and related analysis to relevant stakeholders. The analyst will also develop and enhance technical infrastructure to improve reporting processes and refine portfolio analysis capabilities to best satisfy stakeholder requirements. The analyst will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders such as Portfolio Management, Research Analysts, Client Services, and Investment Strategy. 

We’ll trust you to:

  • Build a foundational knowledge base to understand Lord Abbett investment philosophies and processes across all asset classes. 

  • Apply your intellectual curiosity to analyze portfolios, identify sources of performance, and generate thoughtful inquiries. 

  • Respond to ad hoc requests for attribution and related portfolio analysis from all areas. 

  • Support other functions within the firm by providing product-specific insights and analysis. 

  • Partner with Quantitative Research and Investment Risk Management to share and enhance one foundational infrastructure across the department. 

  • Work with Portfolio Managers to interpret attribution analyses to enhance their ability to understand sources of relative performance. 

  • Work with Product Consultants, and other Client Services teams to provide important attribution analysis and assist them in the interpretation of the results. 

  • Work with Research Analysts to produce informative analyst attribution reports so they can better understand what recommendations contributed most to relative performance. 

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or higher degree in a STEM field, Finance, Economics, or similar with relevant finance experience 

  • 0-5 years’ experience in a portfolio analysis or related role 

  • Strong intellectual curiosity, be self-driven, detail-oriented, and hands-on 

  • Familiarity with equities and fixed income asset types including bonds, CDS, MBS, ABS, and bank loans 

  • Familiarity with performance attribution methodologies for fixed income and equities 

  • Knowledge of and comfort with extracting data from SQL databases 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with writing programs in Python, preferably with experience using pandas for analyzing data sets and data wrangling 

  • Familiarity using IDEs for programming including debuggers and working with Git for version control 

  • Experience using portfolio management and analysis tools, particularly FactSet PA and Bloomberg PORT (desirable) 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

  • Ability to work within a fast-paced team environment with tight deadlines

Compensation Information: Annual base salary for this role is $100,000-$140,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
