Job Overview:

 

Reporting to the Head of Global Investor Services, the Business Development Director will play an integral role in growing and maintaining Lord Abbett’s business in EMEA. Based in Zurich, this individual will be accountable for coverage of Private Banks, Family Offices, Multi-Managers and select strategic relationships.  This individual will closely collaborate with our sales teams across the globe on driving business with the Global Financial Institutions.  This individual will be responsible for proactively developing business across the region, including Zurich, Germany and Austria, to enrich existing relationships, identify cross-selling opportunities, and originate new business. This individual is also responsible for understanding and assessing market conditions in an effort to provide the highest level of investment expertise to our clients. The position requires outstanding teamwork and collaboration with a strong emphasis on the ability to work closely with departments throughout the organization globally, as well as our third-party distribution partners.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Focusing on growing our presence with the Swiss and European Wealth Management community
  • Developing and implementing business strategy for the International Private Banks and family offices
  • Creating and presenting a comprehensive business plan for acquiring and maintaining clients
  • Building and communicating comprehensive business profiles for each focus relationship outlining the total and addressable opportunity set, contact mapping, strategy and vehicle preferences, AUM, and flow
  • Maintaining a high level of activity with clients and prospects with a minimum of 240 meetings per year
  • Ensuring and maintaining accurate client and activity data in the CRM (e.g. meetings, pipeline, etc.)
  • Collaborating and traveling with the Sales Directors both in EMEA and abroad (e.g. Americas)
  • Facilitating, in partnership with various internal teams, the coordination of business strategy initiatives set by the Head of Global Investor Services
  • Determining partnership requirements and financial terms of agreement with focus relationships
  • Identifying and attending relevant industry conferences
  • Providing the required regulatory and client reporting needs of the Swiss and European Wealth Management communit

You'll need to have:

  • Proven history of business development success with a minimum of seven to ten years sales/relationship management experience
  • Proven ability to create a strategic plan, identify key decision-makers, and develop meaningful relationships
  • Ability to organize, plan, and manage several concurrent initiatives with varying priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High sense of urgency and degree of initiative and self -motivation
  • Resourceful with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate investment detail and explain complex concepts in an appropriate manner
  • Experience selling offshore products to complex financial institutions and/or institutional clients
  • Strong collaborative mindset with proven success of operating in a team-based environment
  • Fluency in Swiss-German and conversational in German preferred
