Job Overview:

The Manager of International Tax will work closely with the Director of Taxation on all non-US tax matters. This role will oversee all tax related items pertaining to non-US investment vehicles, foreign investments and offshore subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for overseeing all tax filings relating to the Lord Abbett UCITS, including Austria OeKB reporting, UK reporting fund, German tax transparency reporting, Italian tax ratio, Irish VAT and other various country specific reporting as needed.

  • Oversee FATCA and CRS compliance and respond to inquiries.

  • Monitor funds’ foreign tax reclaims and assist custodian in keeping current with foreign tax withholding filings.

  • Monitor distribution yield and review monthly dividends for all UCITS funds.

  • Represent the Tax Department at offshore product meetings.

  • Oversee the identification of PFIC investments and prepare/review PFIC adjustments.

  • Assist the Investment Team with foreign tax items specific to certain non-US investments.

  • Oversee Lord Abbett’s non-US subsidiaries’ tax filings including corporate tax and VAT.

  • Work closely with Director of Taxation on Transfer Pricing analysis.

  • Liaise with tax advisors as needed.

  • Prepare tax ASC 740 disclosure and its foreign equivalent.

  • Keep current with international tax law changes that may affect Lord Abbett, its products and investments.

  • Work direct with the Director of Taxation on strategic initiatives.

  • Liaise with all investment operations teams, legal and compliance, finance, payroll, human resources, distribution, fund administration and portfolio management.

  • Work collaboratively with management to develop recommendations and identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Five + years of international tax experience - public accounting preferred
  • Knowledge of asset management industry
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required 
  • Proactive, collaborative team player
  • Takes initiative and self-motivated
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and follow-up skills
  • Ability to plan and manage several initiatives concurrently
