Job Overview:

 

Lord Abbett is seeking a Software Engineer to build new applications and drive the evolution of existing systems. The Software Engineer will work as part of a multi-faceted team to build end-to-end solutions and will be engaged throughout the entire project lifecycle. This is a great opportunity to gain a breadth of knowledge in the asset management industry.

The Investment Technology team focuses on building custom applications, integrating vendor systems and delivering data and analytics solutions that empower the portfolio management, trading, and quantitative and fundamental research functions.

 

We are embarking on large and mission critical data and analytics focused projects for Equities. The Director of Equities has sponsored an initiative to analyze and recommend a data strategy to empower our Equity Portfolio Managers. The initiatives will involve concepts such as security and portfolio level analytics, returns attribution, risk analytics and use of benchmarks and platforms such as Axioma, FactSet as well as internally developed platforms. The position will work as part of a newly created team to cover all aspects of the development lifecycle and engage directly with business users.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Requirements Gathering
  • System Design
  • Software Development, Maintenance and Support
  • Technical Documentation
  • User Acceptance Testing
  • Coordination with infrastructure teams for production rollout

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of application development experience with a desire to continue in a hands on technical role
  • Proficient in Java and object oriented programming
  • Writing SQL queries on a major database platform (MS SQL Server,Oracle etc)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required, advanced degree preferred

Preferred:

  • Web Development
  • Batch process automation using a scripting language (Python, Perl)
  • Object and relational modeling
  • Asset management experience (understand trades/positions/portfolios/SMF)
