    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Director of U.S. Institutional, the Institutional Director is responsible for proactively engaging key decision makers in the Institutional marketplace on ther west coast in an effort to acquire new business. This individual is also responsible for understanding and assessing market conditions in an effort to provide the highest level of investment expertise to our clients and for developing partnerships with the gatekeepers of Institutional plan sponsors. 

     

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Represent Lord Abbett in the institutional marketplace, industry functions and conferences and bring external themes back to the organization in order to keep the firm current with industry insights
    • Maintain & develop a presence with key decision makers in the Institutional marketplace (plan sponsors, their boards & key decision makers and field consultants)
    • Establish new business with a Prospecting plan that includes ways to make introductions to Lord Abbett personnel through face-to-face meetings and conference calls; attend board meetings (meetings/introductions/phone calls/conferences/business development)
    • Identify and qualify leads within the target range of plans over $500 million
    • Maintain highly collaborative relationship with Consultant Relations team to enhance current or build new relationships with covering Field Consultants at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 consulting firms
    • Review Requests for Proposal (“RFPs”) and ensure the quality of the completed document
    • Partner with the Investment Strategists to gain a better understanding of how we can provide relevant investment solutions
    • Understand key competitors and industry trends
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the investment process and product offerings at Lord Abbett

    Qualifications

    • 15+ years of work experience in the Institutional market
    • Series 7 and Series 66 licenses
    • Knowledge of securities markets and current market conditions
    • Strong interpersonal, communication skills (written and verbal), and follow-up skills
    • Proactive, collaborative team player
    • Exceptional organization and time management skills
    • High sense of urgency and degree of initiative and self-motivation
    • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and follow-up skills
    • Resourceful with excellent problem-solving skills
